The Bad Beat of the week radio show
For anyone who has made a bet and won in a most unlikely fashion--that unbelievable finish that leads off SportsCenter—“BAD BEAT OF THE WEEK” is NOT for you. Enjoy your steak, lobster and fine wine in celebration at a five-star restaurant. For the rest of you, who have been the recipient of that heart-breaking "other side" of those bets—the crushing, last-second defeat or the 25-1 horse that lost a 10-length lead at the wire--the nearest bar and a sympathetic ear serves as your necessary, much-needed therapy. And you will find many others sharing a score that just fell short right along with you. Comfort in numbers. “BAD BEAT OF THE WEEK” is THE radio show for YOU. It will serve as your personal “cocktail lounge” while Rich Rose and Ralph Siraco—two veterans of many Bad Beat experiences--serve as your bartenders with the sympathetic ear. Of course, the drinks are optional, but it’s all those stories that will make the show.

Bad Beat of the Week will air every Monday at 9:00AM
Pacific, giving
hard-core punters and weekend players alike a chance to
vent their
frustrations over tough losses and gut-wrenching blown
contests.
Each week, Rose and Siraco will let their audience hear
what crazy
results their gaming brethren have experienced during
the previous
seven days. Some endings will be common knowledge,
while others
may be known to only a few, but regardless, the shared
feelings,
sympathy and humor will provide entertaining programming
everyone can
enjoy—regardless of whether or not you gamble.
If
you wager long enough, a Bad Beat is definitely part
of your repertoire
of gambling stories. And each of these tales gets
embellished and grows
with age. There are a million Bad Beats—and the list
gets longer day by
day. What’s unique about a Bad Beat is the nature of
the losing bet;
where your team doesn’t lose by a mile, but where you
experience the
agony of having a "score" within the grasp of
possibility only to be
taken away with some kind of "unbelievable" turn of
events. It’s
a bouncing ball, a photo finish, a missed call or,
even worse, an
unfair penalty that leads to the Bad Beat.
Nevertheless, those who
suffer the Bad Beats wind up commiserating with
kindred souls at the
nearest watering hole, sharing what seem to be
experiences of Bad Beats
to "beat" the stories of other Bad Beats! These are
the tales that make
up the character in a lifetime of gaming and wagering
participation.
For
those who want an example, take the 2009 Super Bowl. The
Arizona
Cardinals, within seconds--and ONE PLAY away from a
chance to win the
most coveted trophy in football--only to have the
Pittsburgh Steelers
take that opportunity away when an outstretched receiver
pulls a
pigskin satellite from the air while scraping his toes
within blades of
grass on the painted sideline in the final ticks of
regulation.
Touchdown. Game over. Now take the guy who bet the
proposition of the
"first overtime" in Super Bowl history at juicy 9 to 1
odds, where the
incomplete pass would have led to a field goal, tie
score, overtime and
he’s a WINNER. But, alas, you have just one more of the
ever-increasing
number of "Bad Beats." So close, yet oh so far.
Bad Beats come in all sizes and situations. But, now with “BAD BEAT OF THE WEEK,” you'll get to re-live your own stories while others share "Bad Beats" of their own from the past seven days. And, maybe even win a prize for the "Top Bad Beat of the Week, as the hosts and producers will award ______ to the individual who suffered that week’s toughest loss. If nothing else, the therapy is free.
